Mayor Alvin Brown has been working for several months to come up with reform plans for several of the city’s pension plans to save money.
The city of Jacksonville says it has “no choice” but to declare an impasse with the Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters over pension reform.
The move, which comes after two meetings, didn’t surprise Union PresidentRandy Wyse — who said it was “not a huge shock” but he thought they would meet at least once more, WOKV reports.
City Deputy General Counsel Derrel Chatmon said the city sees the impasse as the only option and will request a special magistrate to take over the negotiations, First Coast News reports.
