Lawrence John Zacher, 79, of Duluth, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at his home from complications of cancer.

Lawrence John Zacher, 79, of Duluth, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at his home from complications of cancer.

He was born in Cloquet, to Hans and Louise Zacher, on April 4, 1934.

Lawrence was a retired electrician for the City of Duluth. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1957, stationed in Japan.

Lawrence loved spending time with family and friends at the “Little House” in Sawyer, Minn. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending to his apple orchard in Sawyer.

Lawrence was the President of the Evergreen Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing cards with fellow card players. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Lawrence was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Leona; daughters, Brenda (Tim Olsen) Zacher, Rhonda (Jerry Koneczny) Zacher and Tina (Mark Brodin) Zacher; grandsons, Brandon Hunter Zacher, Zachery Olsen and Dawson Rannow; his sister, Delores Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service Wednesday, July 3, in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave.
