Carlton Teachers Meet In Hopes of Finalizing Contract | FOX 21 News, KQDS-DT

CARLTON – Teachers in Carlton met Monday night in hopes of finalizing a contract with the school district.

Carlton teachers have been working without a settled contract for 16 months.

They met Monday to talk about signing off on a current one and to plan for next year’s.

They said the district has moved out of its operating debt, and that it was time for them to get a raise in the new budget.

“If they can increase the spending over the last three years on administration, why can’t they give some of that money back to teachers?” Steve Therrien, a negotiator for the teachers, said.

Carlton teachers are proposing a contract without a raise for last year and but a one–percent salary bump for the current year.
